Our Mission

Individuals with special needs deserve every opportunity to achieve their unique
potential. The Family Resource Network was founded by parents to enhance the lives of individuals with special needs and their families, empowering them to lead productive independent lives within the community.

Our Purpose

The purpose for which this corporation has been formed is to recognize and use the knowledge and experience of families of persons with developmental disabilities, special health needs and other special needs, and to benefit these individuals by providing a coordinated, family-centered and community-based network of information, advocacy, resources, services, and supports. This will encompass a diverse population.

The Family Resource Network, Inc. shall represent the interests of families and individuals in funding, planning, monitoring, and advocacy of programs to enrich their lives and assist in keeping their family member at home or supporting the individual to live on his/her own.

The Family Resource Network, Inc. (FRN) is a parent run, parent driven, 501(c)3 organization serving families of children with special needs in Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, Broome, Tioga, and Tompkins counties. Founded in 1994, FRN has provided information, support, and advocacy services to families who have children with development, special health care and mental health needs. The agency currently has 12 employees, most of whom have a child or children with some type of special need. Two-thirds of our board members must be a parent of the child with special needs.
