Crisis Management and Stabilization Fund
The purpose of the Crisis Management and Stabilization Fund (CMS) is to provide families who have an immediate family member with a mental health diagnosis with financial assistance for specific expenses when all other funding sources have been exhausted, during times of crisis, or to help ensure community stabilization of an individual within a home setting. Examples of expenses may be travel costs for a distant hospital visit, therapy not covered by any other source, parent education or training related to the family member’s mental health needs, or any unexpected costs that a family may have incurred due to their child’s diagnosis/ or suspected disability that would prevent or help prevent out of home placement of that child.
A family is a candidate for receiving financial support from the CMS Fund if they have a child or youth under the age of 21 in their custodial care, with a mental health diagnosis, are in process of determining said diagnosis with a qualified mental health care provider, or currently in the care of a licensed mental health care provider, and/or are in the midst of a mental health crisis. Candidates must reside in one of the following counties: Schoharie, Chenango, Delaware, and Otsego.
If a request is approved, funds will be dispersed via voucher, direct payment to a vendor, or in exchange for proof of purchase with receipts. Exceptions will be made for travel requests related to travel and food reimbursement but proof of the trip may still be required.
