Family Resource Network Teen Scene
Teen Scene is a group of about 20 youth, ages 12-20, who meet at FRN once a month to discuss issues that are important to them. The teens discuss their personal experiences with topics such as: bullying, conflict & resolution, and other social issues.
The group is comprised of youth with varying diagnosis who come from many different backgrounds. Teen Scene is free of charge to the youth, and families can use the time that the child is at the group as respite.
The youth have participated in various skill building exercises encompassing confidence, connection to others, character building, and contributions to the community. The group achieves these goals through effective communication skills, role-play, peer support, and each individual’s natural inclination toward leadership; all of this in a space of safety, confidentiality, and understanding.
The group helps or teens foster a sense of individuality in a safe space.
Teen Scene meets the 2nd Thursday of every month, from 5:30-7:30pm, at the Family Resource Network, 46 Oneida Street, Oneonta, NY. Dinner is provided!
